Property Example
Take a look at the testing strategy of a client…
The client begins the year by testing all staff with regular customer interaction.
All staff members from F&B, FO, Spa and HK take a Speaking test (2 credits) and a Listening test (1 credit).
The property also needs some extra staff in the coming months, so they decide to start recruiting, using 30 recruitment tests (1 credit) in the process.
After testing, HR looks at the reports, sets targets for individuals and departments, and assigns students to classes based on their TOEIH scores.
About half the students with the lowest scores from each department take a 3 month language course.
Once finished, they re-sit the Speaking and Listening tests and use the TOEIH reports to see if students reached their targets.
The property also continues to recruit new staff members and so uses another 30 recruitment tests this quarter
With the results back from re-tests, HR can clearly see the progress made in the 3 month language course.
They decide they would like the rest of the staff to take the same 3 month language course, again finishing with a TOEIH evaluation.
They also decide another 20 recruitment tests are needed this quarter to help with the recruitment process.
Finally, some supervisors and managers are selected to take Speaking (2 credits), Listening (1 credit) and Writing tests (2 credits).
All customer facing staff will by now have detailed reports of their level and language improvement over the year, alongside all newly recruited staff members recruitment test scores.
Thanks to the tests, HR now knows their teams strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to easily see which departments and individuals have reached their test targets, and to plan how to improve next year.
